THE SAN DIEGO GAMING GUIDE
TWachena Falls at Sycuan Casino & Resort
here are lots of reasons to visit Sycuan Casino & Resort in San Diego’s East County. One of them is the casino’s great restaurants. Paipa’s Oasis, Sycuan’s buffet, has won numerous local reader awards. Pearls of the Sea, where you can choose your dinner from a live sh tank, is the best Asian
food of all San Diego County’s casinos. But Wachena Falls, Sycuan’s steak and café restaurant boasts Certi ed Prime Angus Beef®, great monthly specialties, and a super friendly staff that will make your dining experience delightful.
One of the select few restaurants in the U.S. to offer Angus Beef entrees, Wachena Falls has inviting inte- rior seating with overstuffed booths and comfy tables, or “patio” seating looking over the casino oor. If you want a break from the action, the interior seating is the place to go. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, the res- taurant has an amazing mix of offerings from its exten-
sive Café Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Menus—some not often seen on restaurant menus.
The breakfast menu at Wachena Falls includes over twenty items with two monthly specials, steak and eggs (yes, with Angus Beef), ves types of omelettes, and six specialty items including Eggs Benedict ($6.95) and Prime Rib Hash ($6.95).
The lunch and dinner menus include a list of monthly features—two for July include Ahi Salad and Coconut Crème Brulee. Appetizers, soups and salads, deli sand- wiches, pastas, burgers, and cold and hot sandwiches and entrees make up over 100 menu items on the combined menus—certainly a dizzying delight of choices.
There’sanoverwhelmingtendencytoeatthroughthis entire menu, but there are a number of “must-eats” at
Wachena Falls. On the lunch menu: The Monte Cristo ($7.25), a golden brown deep-fried spiral of an egg-bat- tered crustless sandwich lled with turkey breast, ham and American cheese, is dusted with powdered sugar and served with strawberry preserves. This elusive sandwich is rarely seen on menus today, and is a light, elegant taste treat, especially when accompanied by fresh fruit. Lunch entrees are served with vegetables and choice of mashed potatoes, French fries or rice pilaf.
Dinner menu “don’t miss” items include the famous Angus Beef steaks—six choices including a New York Strip 12-oz. steak for $19.50, a Top Sirloin 8-oz steak for $11.50, a Whiskey Peppercorn Steak (top sirloin) for $12.50, and the classic Filet Mignon a la Bearnaise for $19.50. Round- ing off the char-broiled steak menu are an 8-oz Top Sirloin
steak and Shrimp platter for $15.25, and a 12-oz New York Steak and fried Shrimp entrée. All dinner entrees include choice of soup or dinner salad. Steak entrees are served with choice of baked potato, six-cheese au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf or French fries.
Desserts are special at Wachena Falls, with monthly features that have included a unique Apple Strudel, served
with strawberry puree and smothered with cara- mel sauce, and topped off with vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy the casino and stay for the food!
