Market Square Buffet at Valley View Casino
by Lucky St. John
In North San Diego County, friendly Valley View Casino, in the little community of Valley Center, sits on a bluff over- looking country roads and peaceful landscapes. From San
Diego it’s a 45-minute drive through some of the county’s most
days, Thursday Steak and Shrimp Scampi, and a Friday Seafood Feast with shrimp, crab
legs, mussels, clams and lots more. Currently the Mexican Food Festival is every Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. and includes a live taco station, carnitas, carne asada, mariscos, home-made tortillas and much more.
The lunch buffet is seven days a week from 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Lunch is a grand but slightly smaller selection of food and a great value at $6.99. The dinner buffet is open
seven days a week from 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday; and open from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (an hour later) on Friday
and Saturdays.
Dinner buffets cost between $9.99 and $13.99,
but there’s a $2 discount if you have a Valley View VIP player’s club card. Similar player’s club discountsapplytothe“theme”mealsonspeci c

beautiful scenery.
There is a lot to draw gamers to Valley View: A great player’s club with a hefty cash-back (one of the best in the county), plenty of slots and table games, and one of the best San Diego North County buffet-restaurants with great, friendly service —the varied and delicious Market Square Buffet.
The buffet doubles as a breakfast restaurant with a hearty Chef’s Menu (beginning at 7 a.m.) and a deli- ciously lling Breakfast Special at an incredible $1.99. On weekends, Friday to Sunday, the Market Square features a Steak and Egg Breakfast for $2.99. The breakfasts are great and unbelievable values.
I am always struck by the friendliness of Valley View Casino. The casino’s customers come from all over Southern California—from locals to Los Angeles, and still the staff remembers people—some even by name, and makes certain they are treated well.

Some of the eclectic dishes on the buffet include Pollo Estillo Espanol (chicken in a richly and slightly spicy tomato sauce), fresh and tasty stir-fried rice, lip-smack- ing barbecued ribs, peel-and-eat shrimp, chicken gumbo, and seasonal and delicious craw sh.
