ANew Spa Resort Casino Breaks Ground in Palm Springs
n of cial groundbreaking ceremony on December 7th kicked off construction on the new $90 million Spa Resort Casino in downtown Palm Springs. The Tribal Chairman of the Agua
Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Richard M. Milanovich presided at the groundbreaking that was attended by more than 150 guests. The new casino, located in the heart of Palm Springs, will replace the existing Spa Resort Casino. Completion has been targeted for November 2003.
The new Spa Resort Casino will be located northeast and diagonally across from the existing property and will encompass an entire city block, bordered by Amado Road on the north, El Segundo on the east, Andreas Road on the south, and Calle Encilia on the west.
The architects, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo are high-pro le hotel and resort designers whose completed projects include The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Nigel and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando. The interior designers, Dougall Design count the Venetian Resort Casino and the MGM Grand as some of their celebrated projects.

The new 119,000 sq. ft. casino will have around 1,000 slot and video poker machines, and more than 40 table games. It will feature three restaurants, including a 300-seat buffet, and a 150-seat lounge for evening entertainment.
The Spa Resort Casino is owned and operated by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
