Amazing, Fun Entertainment!
T he Global Gaming Expo (G2E) provided an amazing array of new slots that was dizzying and exciting! Three days of surveying and playing new slots left us footsore (we walked 216,000 square feet three times!),
and weary from glad-handing the stars (sure!) and eager with anticipation to play these fantastic new games soon! G2E is held in Las Vegas every year, so we also have the opportunity to stay and play there, and inevitably compare the play and stay with our Southern California casinos. I have to say that many of our local casinos easily measure up, and for real play, we found ourselves pining for our favorite Southern California casinos!
At G2E there were many games this year—so many incredible slots that we had a dif cult time deciding which ones to feature in our annual October report from G2E slot issue. This is our second annual slot issue featuring new games shown at G2E. Most of the slots we have featured will be available within four to twelve months, and some sooner. Southern California casinos often debut new slots, so keep reading the Southern California Gaming Guide and we will let you know when these new slots will be ready to play in a casino near you. Meanwhile, read all about the new slots we chose to feature that we think will be your favorites as well. Our slot feature begins on page 10.
October 13th to 17th marks the rst annual Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, a California Tribal Governments Initiative, sponsored by the California Nations Indian Gaming Association and the California Council on Problem Gambling. From our inception, the Southern California Gaming Guide has been a dedicated advocate of responsible gaming. The week’s activities will be held in both Sacramento and in Temecula at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. See page 7 for more information on this important event.
Autumn is here in Southern California, the time of year we revel in our beautiful weather and paradoxically stay inside watching football on the weekends. This football

season Southern California casinos have created exciting football promotions for you savvy armchair coaches and just lucky gamers. Read all about them on page 21, and check out one very lucky winner on page 7 who already won Super Bowl tickets at one San Diego casino’s fabulous football promo!
This month, as a companion piece to our annual new slots feature, we present a lowdown on the much talked about and little understood Random Number Generator (rng), the “heart” of the slot machine. Read Bill Burton’s explanation of the rng on page 8 in his About Gambling column. It will surely dispel all the slot
myths you’ve ever read or been told.
And nally, our First Annual Readers’ Poll and contest closed on September 30th, and we are busy inputting all the surveys we received by post — a gargantuan task! We will announce our contest winners on November 1st and post all contest winners’ rst names and last
initials and resident cities on our web site at www.TheGamingGuide.com. We will also contact you lucky ones on the same day! And don’t miss our December issue where we will announce your choices for the Best of Southern California Gaming!
Meanwhile, enjoy the autumn, and wager wisely at the casinos!
