TFrom the Publisher...
he Southern California Gaming Guide brings you news each month about what’s going on at Southern California Indian casinos — winners, casino promotions,
entertainment, dining, tournaments, bingo, bus schedules, directions, etc.—the nuts and bolts of information to help you decide where you want to go for casino fun.
In past issues in our feature, “Tribes in the News,” we’ve written about the background and ongoing news about gaming in California. We also publish what most mainstream newspapers do not: News about how Southern California gaming tribes share with their communities some of the money they earn from their sovereign government enterprises known as casinos.
See pages 15 and 16 and read about the Agua Caliente Band’s April donation of over $1 million to Coachella Valley charities, education and public service organizations. And read about how the American Red Cross recognized the Morongo Band for its unprecedented $1 million contribution last fall. In past months, we have also written about numerous tribal multimillion dollar educational endowments and signi cant contributions to local communities.
We know from your letters, calls, and e-mails that you — our readers—overwhelmingly support Indian gaming and the rights of California gaming tribes. In fact, a recent Los Angeles
Times poll con rmed that the majority of Californians approve of and support gambling on Indian reservations, and oppose allowing slot machines anywhere else in California. Look for these pages each month for more news on Indian gaming.
Meanwhile, have fun and wager wisely at the casinos!
