election year, state policy-makers have looked at tribal gaming to boost revenues and help pay for basic necessities that states usually provide. And on June 21st ve California gaming tribes signed historical compacts that work to bring California much- needed cash, and solidify tribal sovereign government enterprise bases. You can read more about this in Tribes in the News on page 17, along with news of gaming tribes’ continuing community contributions.
July 2004 marks our two-year anniversary of publishing the Southern California Gaming GuideTM! We have actually been publishing since February 2002, when we created our rst six issues as the San Diego Gaming GuideTM. From the start, we received, and continue to receive, your much welcomed phone calls, letters and e-mails. It was your continued requests during our rst six months that led to our expansion two years ago to the Southern California Gaming Guide! For two and a half years we have published a 24-page monthly newspaper. It’s only tting on our second anniversary to expand with this July issue to 28 pages! We thank you, all our readers and all our advertisers, for making the Southern California Gaming Guide the best-read gaming newspaper in California!
