In keeping with the resort’s ranch theme, the Branding Iron Café o ers a wide variety of hearty and exceptional fare, including some signature Barona Tribe- in uenced dishes. For starters, every meal is accompanied by a basket of Indian Fry Bread, in addition to rolls. Fry bread, a staple in the diet of most Indian tribes, is made from our, baking powder and water; rolled and folded so that when deep ash-fried (for about only seven seconds) it pu s up with a “pocket.” e Branding Iron’s fry bread is created from the recipe of a Barona Tribal member, who trained the chef ’s sta on the art of good fry bread. Made by hand daily, Barona fry bread is excellent with stews, beans, and any other food for that matter—or just plain with honey, or cinnamon and sugar. Fry bread is delivered fresh and hot to every diner’s table at the Branding Iron. You will have to exercise amazing control not to eat the entire basket!
With a new menu starting this month, the Branding Iron o ers a wide variety of meals for a variety of appetites, prepared from quality ingredients and served in generous portions. Barona Specialities range from Ranch Hand’s Cassoulet — a delicious stew of
jalapeno beans, braised beef and pork, and spicy sausage in a tasty tomato sauce ($9.95) to a scrumptious Petit Fillet & Whole Split Paci c Spiny Lobster ($39.95). On the international side, Achiote Paella ($19.95) is a must-try. ere are many varieties of paella; every Spanish village and cook seems to have one, particularly in the region of Valencia, where it originated. e dish takes its name from the special frying pan, very wide and shallow, used in its preparation. is is a unique paella — made with the customary rice, seafood, sausage and chicken, but avored with the Mexican achiote instead of sa ron. Known as annatto in Europe, achiote was rst used by ancient Mayans as a avor and coloring agent. Its slightly nutty avor makes this a wonderfully unique and tasty paella.
On the new menu there is a mouth-watering assortment of soups and salads, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, seafood, desserts and appetizers, including the Chipotle Shrimp Skewers served with corn cakes and salsa fresca ($8.95). Plus don’t miss the monthly Low Carbohydrate Special menu featuring six guilt-free delicious items, including chocolate
cheesecake! e Low Carb menu will change every month, and indicates total net carbs for health– conscious eating.
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner is served whenever you’re in the mood, whether you want Fried Ice Cream (delicious!) at 10 a.m. or Roast Beef Hash and Eggs at midnight.
