he Indio Powwow, held by the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, is a three-day celebration held on November 25th–27th at Fantasy Springs
Casino Resort. Native American dance competitions for contestants of all ages, bird singing, drum contests and peon games.  ere are also opportunities for visitors to join dancers in the arena during non- competitive, intertribal dancing. A highlight of the powwow is the Grand Entry, when all the dancers form a procession, winding around the arena in a clockwise direction. Preceding the dancers are the Eagle Sta  and the Color Guard. Visitors to the Indio Powwow also have an opportunity to taste Native American foods such as Indian fry bread and shop among vendors for jewelry, weavings, dream catchers and other types of Native American art. Barona Tribe Saves San Diego Holiday Event with a $75,000 Donation

he Barona Band of Mission Indians donated $75,000 to San Diego’s December Nights holiday
festival, to keep the 27-year-old event alive.
 e two-day Balboa Park festival,to be held December 2nd–3rd, includes voice and dance performances on several stages, an annual international Christmas
festival and free entrance to museums in the evenings. “Our tribe values family, traditions and giving back to the community, and December Nights is a natural
event for us to support,” said Rhonda Welch-Scalco, Tribal Chairwoman.
“We look forward to helping create a memorable holiday celebration that everyone in San Diego can enjoy.”
