& Resort and members of the San Diego County Department of Aging and Independent Services announced the launch of e Angel’s Depot that is expected to open its doors early in the rst quarter of 2006. e new non-pro t organization will provide boxes of nutritious food for a week to needy seniors in San Diego County.
Rincon Tribal Chairman John Currier and the Tribal Council presented a check for $20,000 to help o set start-up costs and pledged an additional $40,000 to be paid over the next two years. “ e members of the Rincon Tribe strongly believe that e Angel’s Depot lls a void in San Diego County to assist senior citizens who are independent and able to prepare their own meals but are nancially challenged by the high costs of food, medicine and other necessary expenses,” stated Chairman Currier.
Harrah’s Rincon Senior Vice President and General Manager Janet Beronio also presented a $60,000 check from e Harrah’s Foundation, which will be used to purchase a truck for transporting food from various vendors and other contributors

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians donated 6,000 turkeys last month to about 40 non-pro t organizations that distributed to families in need throughout the Inland Empire.
“ e Morongo Tribe has been delivering anksgiving food from our family to families in need throughout California for nearly 20 years,” said Joletta Tsosie, Morongo Outreach Committee Chairperson and a Morongo Tribal Council member. “We started out by helping a few families and now it has grown to serve thousands.” e gifts provided more than 30,000 anksgiving hot meals. e tribe expanded the annual donation event this year from three days to ve days, the longest anksgiving project in its history. e non-pro t recipients included the Riverside City Mission, the Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army, Carol’s Kitchen, the Los Angeles Mission, and numerous American Legion and VFW posts, churches and local elementary schools. e Morongo Tribe’s gift was the largest turkey donation in California and one of the largest in the nation.
