A lucky San Diego man reeled in a $229,300 MegaJackpots® award on a penny Gilligan’s IslandTM slot at Golden Acorn Casino. e lucky winner, who wished to remain anonymous, said he sat down at the winning machine because it had the only two available chairs in the area.
“At rst I didn’t know what I’d won—then I looked up and saw the progressive amount freeze,” he said.
And just 30 minutes earlier, a very lucky Los Angeles man won a $3,740,711 top award on a dollar MegaBucks® slot machine at Harrah’s
Rincon Casino & Resort.
The new millionaire had been enjoying a weekend at Harrah’s Rincon with his wife when he hit the big jackpot.
“My wife invited me to come. I’m
really not a gambler,” said the new multi-millionaire, who also wished to
remain anonymous. “I’m not even a lucky person, normally!”
e winner said his multi-million dollar win would allow him to retire early. He also plans to use his winnings to help his two children.
“I want to help my daughter buy a house,” said the winner. “ is jackpot will let me take some time to
smell the owers. I just want to leave a legacy for my family.”

Howard Schae er said he stopped by the casino to redeem some free coupons he received in the mail. He sat down at e Twilight Zone slot to test his

“Today started like any normal day,” said Schae er. “And now, here I am. When I
realized I won, I was excited, but quiet. I’m a quiet person, so even
when I get excited, I’m still quiet.”
e 55-year-old hair stylist says he already knows
how he will spend his winnings.
“I am going to invest in stocks and real estate,” he
said. “My grandmother taught me that. She would always tell me—save your money and invest it!”
