Bill Burton: About Gambling
IManaging Your Casino Bankroll
f we were all as rich as Bill Gates we wouldn’t have to worry too much about money. However, most of us do not have the luxury of an unlimited supply of cash, so we must make the most of what we have. is means we have to budget and limit the money we spend.
things do not go well. Instead of reaching in you pocket for more money, you can take a break or change tables.
If you are a slot player, only feed smaller denomination bills into the machine. If you have $100 for your playing session you should not put the $100 bill into the machine. Instead, it is better to go to the cage and get ve $20 bills and use these one at a time. If you don’t have any luck with your rst $20, take a break or switch machines.
By using less than the full amount of money you allocated for your session it will force you to stop and think. is will help you slow down and not get caught up in a playing frenzy. It is sort of a forced discipline to keep you on your budget.
When You Win
If you do get ahead during your playing session don’t forget to lock up a pro t. Take some of your winnings and set them aside. ere is nothing worse than winning money and then giving it all back. Some players feel that when they win they are playing with the casino’s money. Once you win, it becomes your money that you are playing with. Have Fun!
Until next time, remember: “Luck comes and goes... Knowledge Stays Forever.”

I have always been a strong advocate of discipline and bankroll management to anyone visiting the casino.
e money you spend gambling should be considered entertainment, and you should never take money to the casino that you can’t a ord to lose. If you do come home a winner, be happy—but the reality is that many players will lose money when they play. You know this up front and take your chances. at’s why the money you gamble with should be money that you budget for entertainment. To make sure you stay within your entertainment budget there are some things you can do.
Before You Go
Before you visit a casino make a decision about how much time and how much money you want to spend gambling. When you go to a casino you may not spend all your time in the casino playing. You may want to plan other
activities in addition to your gambling. You may plan going to a show, swimming or shopping or just lounging round taking it easy. By planning other activities it will be less likely for you succumb to the temptation to bet more and play longer than you had planned to.
Divide the money you plan to spend for gambling by the number of days you will be there. is is your daily
bankroll. Don’t gamble with any money other than that day’s bankroll. Next decide how many playing sessions you want to play each day and divide your daily bankroll by the number of sessions to get your session bankroll.
Welcome to Fantasyland
Most of us have good intentions about sticking to our budgets, but there are always those temptations that sneak up on us unexpectedly. is seems to happen more often in the casino because when we walk through the doors we enter a sort of fantasy land. e excitement of the sights and sounds and the general party atmosphere helps to add to that feeling. Many people get caught up in the excitement. When this happens it is easy to get carried away and gamble more than you should.
When You Play
When you head to the casino to play only take the money for that gambling session that you decided upon. If you are going to play table games do not buy in for the full amount you have for that session. Instead buy in for half or less. We have all had times where we just couldn’t win at a particular table. By buying in for less than the full session amount it will give you a good breaking point if
