TSribes Rally to Help Esperanza Fire Victims

As a tribute to their bravery, Sycuan pledged $50,000 to the fund established to assist the families of the fallen re ghters. e Sycuan Fire Department also sent both personnel and equipment to Riverside County to battle the re.
e California Nations Indian Gaming Association also contributed $10,000 from the association’s charitable foundation to assist the families of the re ghters.
TSoboba Casino Team Members Raise $17,000 for Race for the Cure
e Morongo Band of Mission Indians delivered hot meals to families staying at the
American Red Cross shelter in Beaumont. e Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians opened part of its reservation near San Jacinto as a comfort station for rescuers
and re ghters, where more than 1,000 re ghters received meals.
In late October the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians announced a contribution of
$50,000 to aid the families of the re ghters who lost their lives. e Tribe also dispatched a re engine from the Pechanga Fire Department as part of a structure protection striketeam.
And in 2003, the U.S. Forest Service sent members of its re ghting team to help protect the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation’s reservation from the devastating Cedar res, and among that group of brave
