are those casinos that have POP (point of purchase) systems. At the restaurant or other casino outlets, you give the cashier your players card, and the appropriate number of points is removed from your account to pay for what you’re buying.
You can often get discounts in a casino (what I call “partial comps”) with little and even no play at the games,
by just having a players card. In many casinos, ashing this card will give you an automatic discount (often 10%) at restaurants, gift shops, and other retail outlets. It never hurts to ask if there is a players club member discount! And giving your players card number can often get you a discounted room rate when you are making hotel reservations, or even nd a room for you when the hotel is “sold out” since they keep back some
rooms for players club members.
Never play without your players club card. It is the
path to valuable comps.

GAetting Comps Through the Players Club
lthough you can get comps through casino mail o ers and from casino hosts, the players club is the comp system used by most low-roller slot players. Of course, there are as many di erent players club systems as there are casinos, so the mechanics of getting
comps through the players club can vary widely from one casino to another. However, you’ll nd that there’s usually some fairly easy way to get comps at the players club booth.
Best scenario: ere’s a “comp menu” in a players club brochure, listing the available comps and how many points it takes to get them. When you earn the speci ed number of points, you go to the players club or to a kiosk and redeem your points for the chosen comp. However, there are still some players clubs that like to keep the details of their system secret, so after you’ve nished playing, you must go to the club, queue up and ask what comps you’ve earned.
Advantages of the Players Club Comp System
Although room and food comps are the most common, some clubs o er a wide selection of comps to choose from including concerts, spa and salon services, golf and gift items. Our favorite use of players club points is to get gift certi cates that we can use to shop for what I call “make-your-own comps”: clothes, groceries, gas, electronics, and household needs are some of
the very practical things the casinos have been good enough to provide us.
People like getting comps through the players club because it’s usually clear to see what amount of play gets speci c bene ts. Because the comps are directly related to points, people aren’t made to feel like they’re begging; they’ve “earned” the comp. Unlike getting comps from a host, most players clubs allow people to get comps without the fear and embarrassment of being turned down.
It’s usually an easy process to redeem points for comps. You simply go the players club where they check your account and immediately write or print out the comp. Some casinos have made it even easier, with a redemption program built into the players club system so you can comp yourself right at your machine, or at electronic kiosks where you can print out your own comps and skip the line at the players club. e easiest
