New Gaming Compacts Will Add $800 Million Annually
o California Budget tGov. Schwarzenegger signed new gaming agreements with four Southern California tribes on July 10th sending them on to the federal government for  nal approval.  e agreements with the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians in Temecula, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians in Cabazon, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians in Palm Springs, and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation in El Cajon will take e ect January 1, 2008, provided they are approved by the U.S. Interior Department. State and tribal
o cials anticipate the compacts will be approved.
State Assembly Democrats held up the new compacts for nearly a year, but approved them last month after the tribes
agreed to additional provisions to address problem gambling, comply with family-support court orders, participate in a workers’ compensation program, and maintain uniform casino procedures.
Combined, the deals will allow the tribes to install nearly 17,000 new slot machines and other table games over a period of 23 years. In exchange, California would get an increased share
of the tribes’ slot-machine pro ts, earning the state up to $800 million annually.

 e 330,000-square-foot parking structure includes direct air-conditioned covered access to the hotel and casino to provide security and comfort; multiple monitored security cameras on each parking level; a manned guard booth at the entrance with security monitors for each  oor; parking space to accommodate 40 golf carts; and a covered top  oor.  e garage also includes more than $100,000 in landscaping including palm trees, plants,  owers and grass.
