ou can follow the action of the 2008 World Series of Poker®, (WSOP) at www.worldseriesofpoker.com. Currently underway at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the 55-bracelet event series will culminate in the Main Event
on July 14th. The winner of the Main Event has traditionally been given the unofficial title of World Champion.
This year’s WSOP has a ground-breaking format change for the Main Event. For
the first time in the WSOP’s
39-year history, the Final Table of the Main Event will be televised in prime time
on ESPN the same day
that the WSOP World
Champion receives
their bracelet. Once
the final nine players
of the Main Event are
set on July 14th, action
will be suspended for 117
days. These players—to
be known as the “November Nine”—will have an opportunity during that time to secure sponsors
play and devise new playing strategies before reconvening at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on November 9th to compete
for the most coveted prize in poker. The Main Event winner will be determined in the early morning
hours of November 11th and, in a telecast first, ESPN will air its final table coverage that night beginning at
9 p.m. et.
This year the 2nd annual
special charity event, Ante Up For Africa, will be hosted on July 2nd at 2 p.m.
at the Rio by Annie Duke and Don Cheadle to raise awareness and funds for the Not On Our Watch Project (NOOW). Last
