Bill Burton: About Gambling
EMaximize Your Casino Visit
veryone is feeling the e ects of the economic slowdown, and many of us are making a conscious e ort to cut back on discretionary spending. e high price of fuel is making traveling much more expensive and this is causing many players to cut back on the number of visits they make to the casino.
Having to cut back on your favorite form of entertainment may be disappointing at rst, but there is a bright side. Going to the casino less often will make your visits more special. And you will want to get the most enjoyment out of the time you spend there. Here are some suggestions to maximize your enjoyment at the casino.
and shorten your playing time. Playing two machines involves standing up or leaning out of your chair to reach over to the adjacent machine. Some players get caught up in “slot frenzy” and feel the need to play multiple machines as fast as they can. is is not very relaxing or entertaining. Sit down in the chair in front of your machine and relax. Playing slots (or any casino game) should be a relaxing experience.
Take a Break
If you decide to change machines, take a break before sitting down for your next session. If you have been playing for a few hours you may want to get a meal or just walk around. Walking around the casino is a good way to stretch your legs after sitting in one place for awhile. e goal is to stretch your casino experience.
Learn to Relax
e main reason for choosing any leisure time activity is to help you get away from your daily routine and have fun and relax. Make sure you get the most out of your casino visit by taking time to enjoy the whole experience.
Until next time, remember: “Luck comes and goes... Knowledge Stays Forever.”

Take Your Time Before You Start Playing
Since you may be making fewer trips to the casino, it is only natural that you may want to play as soon as you arrive, but try to avoid the temptation. Your goal is to maximize the time you spend at the casino since your trips will be more special. If you drive to the casino, take a break before you start playing. Don’t immediately run to a slot machine as soon as you get in the casino door. If you are checking into the hotel, take time to unpack. Don’t just throw your bags in the room and head for the casino. Before you start playing, take a walk around the casino to see what may have changed since your last visit. is will also give you the opportunity to look at new slot games that you might not have seen before. You may just nd a new game you want to play.
Slow Down Your Play
Once you choose a game to play, try to stretch your playing time to get the most entertainment from the money you allocated for playing. Slow down your play
and savor your time. You can start by putting the lowest denomination bill you have into the bill receptor. is will slow you down by making it necessary to have to stop and feed more money into the machine. It will also give you a natural breaking point. If you have to keep reaching for more bills to put into the machine, it may be time to switch machines or take a break.
When you start to play, wait a few seconds between spins instead of immediately hitting the spin button.
You are not in a tournament, so there is no reason to play at lightning speed. Don’t hit the maximum bet button. Take your time and press the bet one coin button until you reach maximum coins. is will take a little longer and expand your playing time. If you do want to use the maximum bet button then move your hand away from it while the reels are spinning.
Play Only One Machine
Play one machine at a time. Playing more than one machine just gives you more exposure to the house edge. In the long run you will lose your money faster
