Compared to last year’s end of the year Holiday Gift Giving event, Sycuan surpassed its level of contributions by $35,000. Sycuan’s Tribal Council and Sycuan Casino’s management team selected the groups that received donations. ey include Steele Canyon High School Music Department, Mama’s Kitchen, Salvation Army, San Diego Food Bank, Mental Health America of San Diego and the Jackie Robinson YMCA. Each received thousands of dollars of much needed contributions during a time when donations barely trickle in. e 2008 Holiday Gift Giving Ceremony was held on December 11th. roughout the year, Sycuan donates millions of dollars to San Diego’s charities and non-pro ts.

Santa and his helpers visited the school on December 17th with gifts of backpacks complete with school supplies, new Nike shoes and Christmas stockings stu ed with fruit, candy and gift certi cates to the Morongo Canyon Lanes Bowling Alley. Gifts were given to all 255 students in 12 classrooms from kindergarten through fourth grade, e Nike shoes were a huge hit with the students.
