Celebrating Seven Years!
Volume 8, Number 2 • February 2009
Seven years ago this month we began publishing the Southern California Gaming Guide. First as a San Diego monthly, and six months later, in the summer of 2002, we expanded to the Southern California Gaming Guide, to include news and information about all Tribal government casinos in Southern California.
We celebrate our seven years and thank you, our readers and advertisers, for knowing the value of the Southern California Gaming Guide. In the past seven years, the Southern California Gaming Guide has grown and now is read by over 450,000 casino players each month throughout Southern California from Ventura County, Los Angeles County, including the San Fernando Valley, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, San Diego County and all the way to the Imperial Valley.
Each year we renew our mandate to bring casino players a resource of gaming and casino information for Southern California. e Casino Directories on pages 30 & 31 contain a comprehensive list of Southern California casinos. Featured Casinos include detailed information about their amenities. Readers tell us they choose casinos to visit from the Directory combined with perusing Players Club Promotions, The Don’t Miss List and the Winners page each month to determine where they want to play. To us, the logic is clear. Players want to know where they can win.
In the following months, our goal is to deliver continuing information about the things that matter most to casino players in choosing a casino to play: Value and opportunity. Casinos today realize that in these challenging economic times, players are increasingly discerning about how they spend their entertainment dollars, seeking value with longer play for their pay, and looking for the opportunity to win more ways during their visits. Every month, players will see more exciting casino promotions with opportunities to win more, more often.
is month, we feature what we believe is a major breakthrough in slot technology, IGT’s REELdepthTM. You can read on page 18 how this new technology is bringing exciting 3-d slot play and amazing convenience to players by allowing a variety of games all on one slot machine. REELdepthTM is also revolutionary for casinos, making slot oor management and maintenance easier and more cost e ective.
For video poker players, don’t miss the review on page 29 of the latest book by Bob Dancer, video poker expert and Southern California Gaming Guide columnist. Video Poker for the Intelligent Beginner provides an arsenal of information and strategy tips for players of the “thinking person’s slot.”
During 2009, look for even more new features and cover stories, and more casino news and information. And within the next few months we will launch an exciting, expanded web site. We look forward to bringing more readers more Southern California gaming news for many more years. Continue to let us know what you would like to see in upcoming issues in your favorite gaming newspaper.
As always, remember to keep your play fun, and wager wisely at the casinos.
