n recognition of this month’s National Problem Gambling Awareness Week from March 1st to 7th, we ask you to be aware of your casino play. While statistics show that 2 to 3% of casino players
nationwide have gambling problems, the problems do exist. at’s 6 million to 9 million Americans, yet only a small fraction seek services, such as treatment and self-help recovery programs. e primary focus of the awareness week is to educate the general public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and raise awareness that help is available both locally and nationally.
Here are a few tips for keeping your play at the casino fun: Gamble socially with family or friends—not alone; limit gambling by predetermining how much to gamble and for how long; never gamble more than you can a ord; never borrow money to gamble; do not gamble when under stress or when feeling lonely, angry or depressed; and if you consume alcohol, do it responsibly when gambling.
