he Rincon San Luiseño Band of Mission Indians
and the employees of
Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort helped make life a little easier for some hungry senior citizens assisted by The Angel’s Depot on May 12th.
Representatives of the Rincon Business Committee presented e Angel’s Depot’s founder, Susan Hall, with a check for $50,000—the second installment of a three-year $150,000 pledge. is pledge matches the three-year, $150,000 donation pledged by the Harrah’s Foundation. Rincon Tribal Council Member Steven Stallings and Tribal Administrator Dick Watenpaugh made the presentation to Susan Hall, founder of e Angel’s Depot.
After the check presentation, more than 20 members of the H.E.R.O. (Harrah’s Entertainment Reaching Out) team, led by Harrah’s Rincon Senior Vice President and General Manager Janet Beronio, began packing boxes of food that was delivered to hungry North San Diego County senior citizens. e enthusiastic team set a record, packing 510 boxes in 46 minutes!

Barona’s Battle of the Badges VII BOenefits Community Youth
n June 20th, the Barona Band of Mission Indians and Barona Resort & Casino will host Barona’s Battle of the Badges VII, where local law enforcement o cers box each other in an annual fund-raiser for under-privileged and at-risk youth. e event
invites male and female boxers into the ring to bene t the Community Youth Athletic Center (CYAC) in National City. e CYAC is a non-pro t organization dedicated to keeping youth o the streets and in school by o ering boxing and mentoring programs.
Held at the Barona Valley Convention Center, the Barona Band of Mission Indians and Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino have been major supporters and sponsors of CYAC for many years. e event begins at 4 p.m. on June 20th. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. General admission is $20 for adults, and children 10 and under are $5. For information, call (619) 474-2922.

children’s shelter. But on May 12 Mary’s Mercy Center together with the San
Manuel Band of Mission Indians announced the donation of $500,000 from the San Manuel Tribe for the continuing construction of Veronica’s Home of Mercy II.“ e people of the San Manuel Tribal Government are happy to provide this support to help make sure that there is a place in our Community for mothers, when they have nowhere else to go,” said San Manuel Chairman James Ramos.
