Jonathan Duhamel Wins 2010 World Series of
JPoker Main Event Championship
onathan Duhamel, a 23-year-old poker pro from Boucherville, Quebec became the  rst Canadian citizen in
history to win poker’s world championship. Duhamel collected a whopping $8,944,310 in prize money. He was also presented with the widely-cherished and universally- revered gold and diamond-encrusted gold bracelet, representing the game’s sterling achievement.  e triumph was both a mental and physical marathon. Duhamel overcame a huge  eld of 7,319 entrants who entered what was the second-largest WSOP Main Event in history.
 e No-Limit Hold’em tournament
began on July 5th, and took more than four
months to complete, including the customary recess prior to the November Nine. Duhamel’s route to victory was a determined one, albeit peppered with a few unwanted detours. Stage two of the November Nine’s grand  nale was played on the main stage inside the Penn and Teller  eater at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. opening in the Palm Springs area. November 9th marked the grand opening celebration of the newest restaurant at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, JOY Asian Cuisine.  is, however, was no ordinary grand opening with a simple champagne toast. A traditional Chinese lion dance wended its noisy way from the resort’s valet area and through the casino  oor. Chef Yan followed the lion dancers, passing out gold chocolate coins and taking photos with guests along the way. Spectators watched a ceremonial ribbon cutting by dignitaries and members of the Cabazon Band of Mission
Indians and a gift exchange. Recognizing that JOY is the  rst dining establishment in the Palm Springs area to infuse direct-from-Asia cuisine into its menu, Chef Martin Yan and actor George Cheung took time out of their busy schedules to help celebrate the
restaurant’s grand opening.
JOY Asian Cuisine is now open seven days a week from
11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Guests can experience the creations of Chef de Cuisine, Dayu Zhang from Jilin, China.  e extensive menu presents options from China, Korea, Vietnam and  ailand with many seafood and vegetarian options available. JOY is located just inside of the casino valet entrance.
