Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians Donates Refrigeration Truck to
COommunity Pantry of Murrieta
n November 4th, the leaders of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians presented a new $70,000 refrigeration truck to the Community Pantry of Murrieta to help feed hundreds of needy families throughout the Temecula,
Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, and Menifee communities. e Community Pantry provides bags of food to more than 500 families living in Murrieta and French Valley. ey also share food with the Temecula, Lake Elsinore and Menifee food pantries.
e number of families and individuals supported by the Community Pantry has increased from 230 per week in 2007, to 518 as of the end of this past October.
e donation supports the Community Pantry’s goal of providing nutritious emergency food through its Healthy Food for Healthy Family program. e
SOan Manuel Gives $100,000 to Free First Year of College Program
Community Pantry is committed to providing food and assistance each week at no cost to the homeless and to residents whose personal resources are limited and who are unable to provide adequately for themselves and their families.
“We are very grateful to Pechanga for this donation which makes it possible to pick up life-giving food donations and purchased perishable food for our pantry as well as surrounding community pantries,” said Catherine Mailliard, Director of Family Outreach for the Community Pantry of Murrieta. “ is truck will help us process over 150,000 pounds of food each month,” she said.

program with Colton High School in 2008, the Valley-Bound Commitment is a student success program that covers the cost of all enrollment fees and textbook costs and a variety of ancillary expenses for the rst year of college. Essentially, the Valley- Bound Commitment eliminates all economic barriers for graduating high school seniors to begin pursuing their educational dreams.
“As a greater community we are all tied together and have a stake in the future of this region,” said San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians Chairman James Ramos.
“Today we are making an investment in an educated workforce to move this region forward on the path to success and economic sustainability.”
