Pechanga Awards $310,000 in Grants to
n December 7th, 2010, the Pechanga Development Corporation announced it awarded $310,000 in grants to public
high schools in Southwest Riverside County. Eight schools received $35,000 each from Pechanga’s annual high school funding program. ey include Temecula Valley High School, Great Oak High School, Chaparral High School, Vista Murrieta High School, Murrieta Valley High School, Elsinore High School, Lakeside High School and Temescal Canyon High School. Murrieta Mesa High School, which is new to the program this year, received $30,000.
Pechanga has donated more than $2.7 million through the high school funding program since the
1998–99 academic year.
Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Donates T$25,000 to Toys for Tots
he Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians presented a check for $25,000 to Toys for Tots on December 16th, at the Seventh Annual Toys for Tots Benefit Concert featuring The Judds. e donation was given on behalf of the tribe and e Judds, who performed for a sold-out
audience at the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom. It is the largest gift the Central Coast Marine Corps Toys for Tots program received in 2010.
“ is donation is so appreciated because we have a 15 percent increase in the number of children registered for a toy this year,” said Anita Pomerantz, Managing Director and chief consultant for the Central Coast Marine Corp Toys for Tots. “ e power of this gift can truly touch lives in a positive way and make the season special.” e $25,000 donation provided toys for 2,500 children at Christmas. Since 1947, Toys for Tots has raised funds and collected toys for families in need.
“During these tough economic times, it’s organizations like Toys for Tots that make such a positive di erence in the lives of so many children,” said Veronica Sandoval, administrator for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation. “We are honored to support Toys for Tots.”
e Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation has donated more than $13 million to hundreds of groups, organizations, and schools in the community and across the nation as part of the Chumash’s long-standing tradition of giving. e Foundation is governed by the tribe’s Business Committee.
