TFrom the Publisher...
his month we feature half dozen new or recently released slots, all shown at the 2011 Global Gaming Expo, known as G2E, in Las Vegas in early October. Maya Winkler, a frequent contributor to the Southern California Gaming GuideTM, reveled in the world of literally thousands of slots, and twirled reels and spun wheels, playing as
many new games as she could. We were all thrilled to see exciting new slots on familiar themes, and learn about new slot technologies. Starting on page 18, you can read about six exciting games we know you’ll really want to play. Each one has a unique feature, and each one, we believe, will become a favorite of Southern California players.
e biggest buzz at G2E was about the legalization of online poker, which many gaming professionals believe will happen in 2012. We’ll keep you posted as we hear de nitive news.
It’s November, the beginning of the winter holidays, and what better time to consider gift-giving. On page 27, read about The Shoppe at Harrah’s Rincon, where you can consider special, one-of-a-kind items, some created by local artisans, and other unique goods. And on the subject, Phantom EFX games, at the very reasonable price of less than $20, are great gifts for the gamer in your life. e new Phantom EFX game, WMS Slots Reel ’em In!, will provide literally hours of slot fun at home on your PC or on your laptop wherever you go. See page 21 for more information.
Ever wonder who wins our annual Reader’s Poll Drawings? Check out page 10 to see three of the ve winners this year. Two were camera shy, but grateful nonetheless. Will you see your photo next year? Vote in the next Reader’s Poll and you’ll have a chance.
National American Indian Heritage Month is celebrated every year in November to honor and recognize the original people of our land. e rst “American Indian Day” was declared by the State of New York in 1916, but a month long recognition of Native Americans was not achieved until 1990. In that year, President George H. W. Bush signed a joint congressional resolution designating November 1990 as National American Indian Heritage Month.
At the Southern California Gaming Guide we have loved ones and family members who are still serving in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we’d like to give special thanks and acknowledgement to them and to the memory of all armed service members on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, and especially during the holiday season. Families of service members make huge sacri ces and we hold them in gratitude and esteem.
And in the season of anksgiving, we thank all our readers and advertisers for making the Southern California Gaming Guide your resource for casino news and information. Have a wonderful anksgiving.
Wager wisely and always keep your play fun at the casinos!
