Many years ago Earl Nightingale, a pioneer in self development, observed that “We become what we think about most.” Several years later Dr. Maxwell Maltz coined the phrase “Psycho-Cybernetics” as he explained that the mind could not determine an actual event from one that is imagined. Both of these behavioral experts professed that you could change and enrich your life by maintaining a positive attitude.
Here is a little exercise to help change your attitude and your luck. When you get up in the morning, think about the luckiest thing that has ever happened to you in your life. Maybe it was meeting that special person, or nding a hot stock that tripled overnight. Perhaps it was that one time you were “in the right place, at the right time.” Keep the thought of that event in the back of your mind. During the day, if things don’t go exactly right, think back on your past good fortune and don’t get discouraged.
ere is no guarantee that this will immediately change your luck, but it will make you a little happier. And being happy is one of the traits of a lucky person.

hat is luck? If you look up the dictionary de nition it says that luck is “success or failure decided by chance rather than through one’s own actions.” When you play games of chance, luck will determine whether you win or lose.

Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley applauded Morongo’s ongoing
commitment to helping the community, not only through the annual anksgiving Outreach program but throughout the year. “Every year the Morongo Band of Mission Indians helps thousands of those most in need enjoy a anksgiving dinner,” Ashley said.

In the short term, luck will be a big factor in determining whether you win or lose. This is true of games that have positive expectations as well as games with a high house edge. If you are playing games with a high house edge, like slot machines, luck will be the only way to win. But if you are only an occasional visitor to the casino, it is possible to have some short- term wins. This is the reason that people go back to casinos. If the outcome of each visit were based strictly on math, you would never win because there would be no deviation from the long-term results. If this happened, no one would play. If you knew you would lose five cents on the dollar every time you hit the spin button on a slot machine, it would be pretty silly to play.
For games of skill like poker, blackjack or video poker you can improve your luck by learning how to play the games correctly. In these games, luck determines the cards you are dealt. Knowledge and skill determines how you play them. A lucky person nds a way to use his abilities to become a winner. is is true in casino games and is also a factor in the game of life.
Improving Your Luck
I have long been a believer that our attitudes can a ect our lives. If you look at optimists, they seem to be lucky and have great things happen to them all the time. On the other hand, pessimists seem to encounter bad luck wherever they go. I think this is all related to the way they look at the world and how they let things a ect them.
We all know somebody who is extremely lucky. ink of the luckiest person you know. You will nd that person is usually happy, outgoing, upbeat and con dent. ey know how to make the best of any situation and they never complain.
On the other hand, think about somebody you know who always seems to have bad luck. Do they complain and gripe all the time? e lucky person is usually the one with the positive attitude.
It’s just possible that your attitude can change your luck. We’ve all heard the saying, “When life deals you lemons,
learn how to make lemonade.” e person that turns an adverse situation into an advantageous one is sometimes looked upon as being lucky, when actually their attitude brought about the luck.
