his month, we highlight two casino player favorites: Food and Winners! You can catch up on all the fantastic dining developments at featured Southern California casinos, and plan an incredible meal your next trip. e Awesome Eats! feature, starting on page 18, covers amazing bu ets, inventive casual and ne dining, trend-
setting Asian fare and lots more. And throughout this issue, we feature many really big winners. Just check out Slot News, Gaming News and, of course, one of our most popular pages, Winners, on page 34. Over $1,000,000 of huge jackpot wins at Southern California featured casinos are shown in this issue!
It’s never too early to begin your tax preparations, so we feature Gail Anders’ annual Tax Prep Tips for Casino Players on page 6. Gambling winnings are taxable, and since we want, of course, to keep as much of our winnings as possible, there are a few essential steps to make sure you help yourself when preparing your tax return.
ere are several fun holidays this month, and it’s a Leap Year, so there’s an extra day this month to play. Check out how casinos are celebrating Valentine’s Day and The Big Game on page 16. ere are fantastic car giveaways and events this month, and most require playing with a players club card to win. If you are not a players club card holder at all the casinos you visit, make sure you sign up now. Otherwise, you may miss out on some fantastic ways to win more this month and the rest of the year at the casino.
If you haven’t already heard, there may be a return of online poker soon. Less than a year after several online poker sites were shut down, a ruling by the U.S. Department of Justice on December 23rd seems to have paved the way for intrastate gaming. e Justice Department concluded that the Wire Act’s “prohibitions relate solely to sport- related gambling activities in interstate and foreign commerce.” Currently, legislation is making its way in California to allow online poker. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
