CJelebrate Native American Traditions at September Powwows
oin the celebrations of four Southern California Native American powwows during September. All year round, thousands of Indians and visitors travel the powwow circuit in Native American settings across the country. All powwows are open to the public, and admission is free. ere may be a parking fee. Bring chairs, and prepare for the sun and heat. And please remember to ask
permission before you take any photos of Tribal members in their regalia.
e Barona Band of Mission Indians invites you to experience Native American culture at the 43rd annual Barona Powwow on Friday, August 30th, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday, August 31st, and Sunday, September 1st, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Since its inception in 1970, the Tribal celebration has grown into a three- day event featuring traditional Tribal dances, singing and music, a hand drum contest, authentic Native American food and exquisite handcrafted arts and jewelry. e festivities will take place at the Barona Baseball Field,

e Morongo Band of Mission Indians presents the Annual Morongo Thunder & Lightning Powwow from Friday, September 27th, to Sunday, September 29th, near the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, 49500 Seminole Drive, in Cabazon. e celebration includes an Indian market, food, traditional games, dances and contests.
