Also, for the tried and true counterfeit check, look for the bill’s watermark. Hold the note face up to the light and look for a faint image of Benjamin Franklin in the blank space to the right of the portrait. e image is visible from either side of the note.
e bill now has a large “100” printed on the back, making it easier to read for those with limited vision, and the image of Independence Hall has been turned around so you now see the rear, rather than the front, of the building.
e $100 bill is currently the largest bill in circulation, but do you know the biggest bill the United States ever made? Printed for just a few weeks at the end of 1934 and into 1935, the United States produced $100,000 bills used between Federal Reserve banks. e bills were never publicly used, but the sight of a $100,000 bill is amazing.

f you’ve received a one-hundred dollar bill at the casino lately — and we hope it was via a nice jackpot — then you certainly noticed that Ben Franklin has had a sizable makeover. e redesigned $100 bill began circulating in mid October and the changes are obvious. Want to know why they were made?
Ten years in the making, the new $100 is packed with new security features intended to make the C-note more di cult to copy. at’s important considering the $100 bill is the most counterfeited bill outside the U.S.
A three-dimensional security ribbon is the biggest di erence. e blue ribbon runs through the front of the bill, just to the right of Franklin’s face, with images of small Liberty Bells and the number 100. When the bill is tilted, the Liberty Bells change back and forth to “100.”
When you tilt the note back and forth, the bells and 100s move side to side. If you tilt it side to side, they move up and down. e 3-d ribbon is woven into the paper, not printed on it.
TBarona Lottery Creates Big Winners
he TGI Thursdays Barona Lottery made some Barona Resort & Casino players very happy winners! Every ursday in September and October, Club Barona members who earned 250 mypoints were entered in drawings at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., for a chance at thousands of
instant cash prizes or a progressive jackpot that started at $20,000. If the progressive jackpot wasn’t claimed, there was a Second Chance Drawing at the end of each month where ve guests were drawn to split the jackpot. All Club Barona members who earned entries during the promotion were automatically entered to win. On September 19th, Celia (pictured right) won a $30,000 Barona Lottery jackpot! We went to press before the October Second Chance Drawing, but we’ll look forward to reporting on that winner next month.

Another security feature is a copper-colored inkwell with a color-shifting bell to the right of Franklin’s face. When tilted, the bell changes from copper to green, an e ect that makes the bell seem to appear and disappear within the inkwell.
