As part of a coordinated collection e ort called Agua Cares—from the Heart, team members from Spa Resort Casino and Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa came together to help the homeless in the Coachella Valley by donating an assortment of everyday items that most of us take for granted. A variety of personal hygiene items including toothbrushes, ibuprofen, shampoo, shaving blades and cream, and soap were donated by the hundreds.
“It is remarkable how enthusiastic your associates are about making a di erence in the lives of our community members,” remarked, Karen Snake, on behalf of Roy’s Desert Resource Center.

Nonpro t Roy’s Desert Resource Center is dedicated to providing safe shelter, nutritious meals, laundry and shower facilities to those under life-changing economic distress who nd themselves homeless. ey also provide the necessary tools for each individual to become self-su cient once again. Roy’s provides case management and services such as job training, housing placement and vital daily living skills.
Rincon San Luiseño Band of Mission Indians Gives $9.2 Million for Roads
As reported in the San Diego Union Tribune in April, the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians agreed to give approximately $9.2 million toward road improvements needed to o set tra c generated by the 2014 expansion of
Harrah’s Resort Southern California. e expansion included a second hotel tower addition of 403 new rooms bringing the total number of rooms to 1,065.
San Diego County will receive the majority of the funds, $8.7 million, for unspeci ed projects designed to improve commute times and safety on North County roadways. e remaining monies will go to the San Diego County Association of Governments
for local road improvements headed by Caltrans. e projects include the recently
completed state Route 76 and Interstate 15 interchange in Fallbrook, as well as future work planned at the Highway 76 and Cole Grade Road intersection in Valley Center. Rincon Tribal Chairman Bo Mazzetti said the Tribe has an investment in safe
travel for their guests, neighbors and tribal members.
e county projects being considered include improvements to a southern section of
Valley Center Road, at the base of the grade near Escondido where the road narrows from four lanes to two, as well as possible improvements to parts of Bear Valley Parkway in the county portion of Escondido. Many improvements to roads in that part of the county have been accomplished with the help of Tribal gaming revenue.
