begins with the new moon on February 8th, and ends in 2017 with the full moon on January 27th. If you were born in 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, or 1992, you were born in a Monkey year. Reader opinions may vary, but tradition says that those born in the Year of
the Monkey are thought to be clever and intelligent, especially in careers and wealth. ey are lively, exible, quick-witted and versatile. In addition, their gentleness and honesty brings
them an everlasting love life. Although they may be born with enviable skills, they still may have shortcomings, such as an impetuous temper and a tendency to look down upon
others.
What will the Year of the
Monkey bring us? It is said that in this year, we will all do well by staying vigilant, and keeping our emotions in check, thinking before we act and trying to avoid hasty decisions. e Year of the Monkey follows the steady Year of the Sheep, a year of contemplation. A
Red (Fire) Monkey Year will be anything but peaceful. It will be the year to act, innovate, and take matters in hand. An adventurous path and clear goals are this year's demands.

FEBRUARY 2016
Lunar New Year is celebrated all over the world, particularly in Asia, in countries with large Chinese populations including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan,
ailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. e Chinese calendar is lunisolar which signi es both
the moon phase and the time of the solar year. So Chinese New Year is often called the
Lunar New Year.
e source of Lunar New Year isn’t exactly known, but it has gained importance through centuries in tradition and myth. Traditionally, the Lunar New Year is a time to honor ancestors. e night before Lunar New Year, family and friends gather over a dinner that includes noodles, sh, tangerines and sweets: all foods that are meant to enhance
wealth, happiness and luck. Tradition also calls for a thorough cleaning of the house and personal matters to clear out any bad luck and make room for good fortune. People often exchange Hong Bao, red paper envelopes (red means good luck) that contain money in speci c lucky numbers in multiples of 8’s and 9’s.

Many casino players look to the Lunar New Year for a time to renew their luck. I’ve been known to always look on
the bright side of life, and hold positive thoughts and visualize good outcomes at
the casino. So for 2016
I see good things in my life. I am very lucky, and
know that I in uence
my luck by my thinking. I’ve
written several articles on luck for
this monthly, and always come back to the same concept: You can create your reality
with the power of positive thinking. And that means your luck at the
casino as well.
Will you be lucky in the
Year of the Monkey? ink positively and it can only help. Be aware of how you speak
about your luck — or any outcome you desire. Your words have power. One thing is for certain: by the end of 2016 you won’t be the same, and that’s nothing but a good thing. After all, the only constant in
life is change.
