Members of the Rotary Club of Palm Springs and sta  members from the Palm Mountain Resort in Palm Springs, who donated their time to help, manned booths at the Spa Resort Casino’s second annual Brews & BBQ event on Saturday, October 22nd.  eir e orts generated $4,600 to assist underprivileged kids with food and other necessities throughout the year.

year ends.  e Rotary Club of Palm Springs has partnered with PSUSD to close this gap, which is estimated to be $25,000 annually.
“Spa Resort Casino was honored to partner for a second year with the Rotary Club of Palm Springs at our Brews & BBQ event,” Stout-Smith said.
“ e club’s commitment translates into providing valuable support to those in need.”
Among those accepting the check on behalf of the Rotary Club of Palm Springs were its President, James Can eld, and Homeless Youth Program Coordinator, Tim Ellis. Also on hand to speak at the event was Don Slusser, Coordinator for the Student Assistance Program at Palm Springs Uni ed School District.
“ e annual Brews & BBQ event is an integral part of the fundraising we’ve initiated to improve the lives of kids in our community,” Ellis said. “I’m proud of our members and their dedication to this cause.”
Homeless students are hungry and without transportation.  ese are just some of the hurdles faced by homeless local students. The Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) and federal programs help, but it’s not enough. PSUSD runs out of funds to provide bus passes, gift cards for food and other necessities long before the school
