What seems like in a whisper in time, it’s already fall in Southern California. We knew it was
coming with the ubiquitous pumpkin-flavored everything that has been everywhere. Lest
I sound like a harbinger of woeful tidings, I declare the winter holidays one of the favorite times of the year. National American Indian Heritage Month is celebrated every year in November to honor and recognize the original people of our land. The first “American Indian Day” was declared by the State of New York in 1916, but a month long recognition of Native Americans was not achieved until
1990. In that year, President George H. W. Bush signed a joint congressional resolution designating November 1990 as National American Indian Heritage Month.
All of us at the Southern California Gaming GuideTM would like to give special thanks and acknowledgement to veterans, active duty military and their families and to the memory of all armed services members on Veterans Day, November 11th, and especially during the Thanksgiving season.
Also, we don’t need the special day of Thanksgiving to know that we have so much to be thankful for.
