Sycuan Casino Resort Donates Food, Water and Supplies During  CSOVID-19 Pandemic ycuan Casino Resort, owned and operated by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, cares about the health and well being of the entire San Diego community. The organization partnered with different San Diego County charitable entities to help the community get the resources it needed in March after Sycuan Casino Resort announced its temporary closure.  Sycuan donated food, water and supplies to a variety of non-profit organizations to show support throughout the coronavirus pandemic. The items Sycuan donated included pallets of water, hand soap, supplies and food items including fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, cheese, eggs, dairy products and much more. Several supplies and hundreds of pounds of perishable items including fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, dairy, eggs and more went to the Home of Guiding Hands (HGH) in El Cajon, one of the largest providers of supports and services in San Diego County. Serving more than 3,800 infants, adolescents, and adults with developmental dis- abilities, HGH believes that individuals thrive Augustine Casino Donates 3,000 Pounds of Fresh Food where they can direct their own lives in a setting that offers a more fulfilling lifestyle, pro- vides individualized attention, increased opportunities for self-sufficiency, and encourages greater community integration and access. The group also provides life skills training, vocational assistance, counseling, respite care and county-wide transportation services. Two full pallets of bottled water also went to the Neighborhood Home Association (NHA) that provides employment to over 800 team members and touches the lives of over thousands of San Diego families a year through a network of 23 programs in 125 locations. Current NHA programs range from early childhood development in Head Start to an innovative nutrition program, to health programs like HIV/ AIDS case management, mental health services, Adult Day Health Care services, youth services and Senior Services. NHA states that they provide more than just physical or emotional support and instill a belief of a better tomorrow through empowerment, education and wellness. Plus, Sycuan donated several cases of bottled water to the San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter that is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. The lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable animals from being euthanized. San Diego Humane Society is a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. And cases of bottled water also went to Meals on Wheels. From humble beginnings in 1960 with a few women deciding to deliver meals to their elderly neighbors, to serving nearly a half a million meals throughout the entire county today, Meals on Wheels is devoted to the health, safety and well-being of San Diego seniors. Meals on Wheels San Diego County subsidizes 60% of the costs for meals, delivery, and other services provided, regardless of a senior’s ability to pay. Several food items also went to the non-gaming Tribal Communities of Santa Ysabel and Campo, including fresh fruits and vegetables, assorted cheeses, eggs, dairy products and bread.
