Casinos Reopen Most Southern California casinos are now open after two months of their temporary closings due to the covid-19 pandemic. If you’re planning to go, remember to bring a face covering and expect a new experience. Temperature scanners, hand sanitizers, personal protective equipment, limits of occupancy capacity, added spacing between slot machines, and limited seating at table games are now the norm, all planned to provide casino employees and guests a safe environment. Beginning on page 10, Casinos Reopen: Playing in the New Safe Casino includes a guide to each featured casinos’ reopening, their safety measures, and their venues that may still be temporarily closed. Note that several casinos are now non-smoking as part of their safety protocols. As the article was compiled in the last week of May, changes will more than likely have occurred at each property. Check with each casino’s website for current updates before you go. In their preparations to reopen, Southern California casinos have used technological advances and innovative operational changes that promote health and safety and also enhance the casino experience. See New Technologies Increase Safety at Casinos on page 15. What better way to return to the casino than to be on the look out for some very Hot Slots. You can’t miss pages 19 to 22 with some of the most exciting slot plays. There are new games and some you may already know. We present these as a forerunner to the annual voting for the Reader’s Choice 2020 Best Slots that will be online from July 1st through the 31st. Be sure to pick up the July issue for all the details. After two months of digital-only issues of the Southern California Gaming GuideTM — the first time in 18 years’ of publishing that we ever had to stop printing, due of course, to the coronavirus pandemic — we’re pleased to be back in print. This issue has fewer pages, nonetheless, judging from all the calls, emails, and notes we’ve received, we know you’ve missed your monthly Gaming Guide issue and will be pleased to have it back in hand. Meanwhile, please follow local, county, state and national health covid-19 guidelines and stay well and safe. This is a new casino era, but as it unfolds, appears to be mindful of player health safety and security as never before. As always, wager wisely, and have fun at the casinos.
