SAN DIEGO GAMING GUIDE
The Barona Golf Events Center is Now Open
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the award-winning Barona Creek Golf Club (recently ranked 4th Best Course in California by Golfweek Magazine), the Barona Golf Events Center is San Diego’s newest full-service special events venue and marks the comple- tion of the second phase of the $260 million Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino expansion. The Golf Events Center of cially opened for public use after a recent Barona Tribal Dedication Ceremony.
The elegantly appointed facility incorporates organic motifs inspired by the beauty of the Barona Indian Reservation, and features 18,000 square feet of exible meeting and banquet space for groups of up to 600 people. “With each new building com- pleted, we move one step closer to ful lling our dream of creating a world-class resort destination,” said Clifford LaChappa, Chair- man of the Barona Band of Mission Indians. “We dedicate our Golf Events Center to the children of the Barona Indian reserva- tion, the future leaders of our reservation and of our business.”
The Golf Events Center offers space suitable for a variety of events, from casual to elegant, and can be divided into four uniquely separate venues all under one roof. The Golf Events Center will also offer state-of-the-art audio and visual equip- ment, and a comprehensive selection of meeting support services provided by expertly trained and experienced meeting and event planning professionals.

On April 23, 2002, Cruz Hernandez of Escondido decided to put $10 in the $1 slot machine next to her at Valley View Casino in Valley Center. The machine was Bally’s Millionaire 777sTM, and on the third pull, Hernandez hit the Thrillions® progressive jackpot and won $1,326,505.08.
Hernandez, a regular player at Valley View, had dreamed the week before that she had won big. “I am going to pay all my bills, help my family, and pay off my house,” said the
happy winner. “I have a big family in Tijuana and I don’t want to work anymore.”
Hernandez can choose to receive her win- ningseitherinonelumpsumorhaveitpaidout in installments over the next 20 years. Hernan- dez is the third person to win a top Millionaire 777s jackpot. In March of this year, a Texan man won $1.9 million at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and prior to that, a Georgia woman won the top award of $1.3 million at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino during her rst trip to Las Vegas. Hernandez is the rst Millionaire 777s jackpot winner in California.
Cruz Hernandez proudly displays her jackpot check at Valley View Casino.
The Barona Golf Events Center was envisioned by renowned architects Bergman, Walls & Associates to complement the Barona Creek Golf Club, immediately adjacent to the center.
California Craps at Casino Pauma
Casino Pauma has just opened their newest table game—California Craps. This is the rst game of craps that is legal in California because it uses cards instead of dice. How- ever, the game perfectly simulates the random outcome of the popular Las Vegas-style dice game of craps. California Craps uses traditional Las Vegas craps bets, odds, and layout, and also introduces two unique proposition bets.
California Craps is played with one continuous shuf er containing cards numbered 1–6, plus a Joker. Instead of choosing two dice, the player (normally called the shooter) spins a Chuck-A-Luck cage that contains a cube with the numbers 1-2-3, to determine whether the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th cards out of the shuf er will be used to determine the winning hand.
The dealer turns the two cards face up on the layout and the total of the two cards becomes the draw and starts the hand for that player. The standard rules for craps apply. The Joker card allows the casino to use only one shuf er and still maintain the correct statistical odds. Once the rst card is turned over (as determined by cube number) the Joker takes the value of that card. If the Joker is the rst card exposed, only the Joker bet has action (and pays 60 to 1 odds). The Suit Bet (the other one-draw proposition bet) pays
4 for 1 odds.
Play California Craps at Casino
Pauma on Friday and Saturdays from 6 a.m.– 4 a.m., and on Sundays from3p.m.–1a.m.
