SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GAMING GUIDE
Read the Experts, Get an Edge!
R egular readers may recognize our video poker, slot, comps and poker experts this month — all four are top gaming writers who contribute to newspapers, Internet sites, and gaming magazines all over the
country. They are all working journalists and players! And they are regular columnists to the Southern California Gaming Guide each month!
Bob Dancer is video poker’s reigning guru. A player and educator, Dancer couples his background in statistical theory with the enjoyment of the game. His new book, Million Dollar Video Poker is a must-read for the fun and sheer audacity of gaming!
Bill Burton, our voice of responsible slot playing, is the Internet portal guide for gam- bling on About.com, and author of Get the Edge at Low-Limit Texas Hold ’Em! His expertise area is wide, and his counsel wise.
Jean Scott, the “Queen of Comps” is the author of The Frugal Gambler, and the upcoming More Frugal Gambling. She’ll tell you how to get the most from your casino- going experience, with her thrifty advice.
And Andrew N. S. Glazer, as I write this, is playing in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. A celebrated poker tournament player and writer, Glazer is one of the most respected poker writers in America, and author of Casino Gambling the Smart Way.
When you read the experts will you win more? If you put some of their wise counsel to use, perhaps. It’s all up to you, the fates, the stars, or whatever you believe in that ultimately spells timing (also called luck). Being lucky is being at the right place at the right time. And no one can teach you that. But knowing what to do with an opportunity can be an edge. We aim to inform and promote gaming as a recreation. And as with all recreations, the better you know how to play, the more you’ll enjoy your experience.
May brings Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and Mother’s Day on May 11. (Take mom to her favorite casino!) And Memorial Day weekend is at the end of the month. But we won’t wait to wish a mighty welcome back and enduring thanks to our returning armed forces!
Meanwhile wager wisely and have fun at the casinos!
