As Tribal Chairwoman, Anna Sandoval held bingo ball I-26 in her shaking hand, preparing to announce the rst number in the rst ever bingo session at the Sycuan Bingo Hall on November 22, 1983. She never imagined how things would change
over the next 20 years.
Well, things certainly have changed, and between October 27th and November 22nd Sycuan Casino & Resort will host a 20th anniversary celebration, featuring great promotions, concerts and special ceremonies to commemorate what has been twenty great years. The month-long festivities will culminate on Saturday, November 22nd, when Sycuan will re ect joyfully on their history and look toward their future with a day-long celebration featuring ceremonies, a free commemorative giveaway for guests, and the anniversary celebration will close with a guaranteed Grand Prize Winner who will take home $20,000!
As the success of Sycuan’s casino operation continues to grow, so does the tribe’s efforts to contribute back to the community and to be a good neighbor. During the next few months the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation will be very active community partners.
On October 4th, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation was a proud sponsor of the prestigious “Cox Presents: A Salute to Teachers,” which aired on San Diego Cox Channel 4, and recognized four outstanding educators in San Diego County as “Teachers of the Year.” Sharon Beasley, Sycuan Tribal Secretary introduced nalist Debi Bray, from Oceanside. Sharon stated, “This is a great event for Sycuan to support. It is extremely important to support San Diego educators, since the leaders of tomorrow depend on our teachers of today.”
Beginning November 20th, Sycuan will sponsor the Ice Rink at Horton Square called Fantasy on Ice. This is the fourth year of Sycuan’s participation, and the sponsorship directly bene ts Children’s Hospital Cancer Care Center. The Ice Rink is located in downtown San Diego, near Horton Plaza and will be
open from November 20th through January 18th. Fantasy on Ice will operate 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $6 per person and it’s a great way for families to support Children’s Hospital. Make plans to visit, have a great time with your
entire family and support the San Diego community.
