IThe 2006 Best of the Best...
am thrilled to present the fourth annual Best of Southern California Gaming Reader’s Choice Awards for 2006. Your votes have all been noted and the tallied results begin on page 15. I’m certain your favorite casinos are also thrilled to have your votes, as
only you—Southern California casino players—can determine the best casinos with any authority. ere are a few surprises among the established favorites of customer service and amenities. And I know these awards go to the best of the best, as all Southern California casinos are winners. And your favorite slots? See the exciting games on pages 16 and 17.
And on page 14 check the list of Reader’s Poll Contest Winners to nd out who won the fabulous Norwegian Cruise Line eight-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera, the $1,000 in cash, and the fantastic new Phantom EFX PC games—Reel Deal Casino: High Roller and Reel Deal Casino: Mystic Forest.
Congratulations to all 2006 Best of Southern California Gaming Reader’s Choice Award casino and slot winners! And thank you—every one of you—who took the time to ll out the Southern California Gaming Guide survey online and by post. is year we received more surveys than in all four years of our annual poll.
Make sure you read Bill Burton’s article this month on Managing Your Casino Bankroll (page 22). All of our casino “expert” writers are also casino players in various parts of the country, including Southern California, and Bill Burton always reminds players to balance their casino entertainment experiences with awareness and control, while always having fun. ere’s a lot to do at a casino—take advantage of all the entertainment opportunities there.
ank you for all your e-mails, phone messages and letters regarding our new layout design. We’re still tinkering with changes here and there—in some instances utilizing some of your suggestions. I like to receive ideas for making the Southern California Gaming Guide more interesting and more functional to you, and I do appreciate your taking the time to let us know what you would like to see on these pages.
On a personal note, San Diego County, where our o ce is located, is home to U. S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, where Marines deploy and return from their tours of duty. Many of us have friends and loved ones who have served abroad, particularly in the extreme dangers of Iraq and Afghanistan. We salute those men and women of the U.S. Marine Corps and of all the armed services and welcome them back to Southern California. May you all ease back into your lives here with your loved ones, and know how much you are appreciated.
Meanwhile, as always, remember to wager wisely and keep your play fun at the casino!
