Space: the nal frontier. ese are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. ese words were rst spoken on September 8, 1966, when the very rst episode of Star Trek debuted on TV. is ground-breaking science- ction series takes place in the 23rd century, and follows the adventures of Captain Kirk (William Shatner), his rst o cer Mr. Spock (Leonard Nemoy), and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise on its ve-year mission to explore new worlds, and boldly go where no man has gone before. Low ratings caused the cancellation of Star Trek after only three seasons, but the series took on a life of its own in syndication, and the world of Star Trek now includes four live-action television series, one animated series, and the eleventh lm that once again features the crew of the original Enterprise, is scheduled to be released in May of 2009.
