he world’s biggest, richest, longest-running and most prestigious gaming event, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), will run this year from May 27th through July 16th, at the Rio® All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas. A total of 61 gold bracelets is at stake — three more than last year — and
the Rio’s tournament arena has been expanded by nearly 100 tables. e Main Event
Main Event, which begins play Saturday, July 7th, and will reach its nal table of nine players on Monday, July 16th,
at which time play will be halted. e delayed nal table will return one week earlier
than in previous years. With the U.S. Presidential Election slated for
the rst Tuesday in November, the WSOP Main Event nal
table will be held in two stages, from nine players playing
down to two on Sunday, October 28th, with heads up play on Tuesday, October 30th. Once again, the Penn
& Teller Theater at the Rio will host the nale, in front of an anticipated live television
Championship begins July 7th. e annual poker extravaganza is televised exclusively on ESPN.
Featuring a comprehensive slate of tournaments in every major poker variation, the WSOP is poker’s longest running tournament in the world, dating back to 1970. In 2011, the event attracted 75,672 entrants from 105 di erent nations, and awarded more than $192 million in prize money.
Poker history will also be made on July 1st, when the WSOP will hold the highest buy-in poker tournament in history — $1,000,000 buy-in, Big One For ONE DROP. Never before has a player had to pony up $1,000,000 just to enter a poker tournament. Typically this is what
players are accustomed to winning, but for the rst time, the WSOP will put on a $1,000,000 buy-in bracelet event. e event will begin
at 1:11 p.m. on Sunday, July 1st, and play out as a three-day event. It will likely award the largest rst place prize in poker history. e event will be televised by ESPN. 11.1% of the buy-in will support onedrop.org.
e 43rd annual WSOP will conclude
with the grandest spectacle in all of gaming, the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship, aka The
