Update: Southern California Casinos Temporarily Close to

s of March 20th, all Southern California Indian Nations had closed their casinos voluntarily in response to Governor Gavin Newsome’s State Executive Order to limit the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of April 29th, some casinos had reviewed and changed their reopening news. The following excerpts from featured casinos’ website messages and letters announce their plans. To keep current on any further changes in May, visit each featured casinos’ websites indicated below.
The following is from a statement on the Agua Caliente Casinos websites. “The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is committed to protecting the health and safety of our team members, guests and community. To do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we will continue out temporary closure of the Agua Caliente Casinos in Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage.”
“Stay healthy and safe during this challenging time,” Tribal Chairman Jeff L. Grubbe said. “We remain hopeful and are eager for the day we can
reopen. Since time immemorial, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has been resilient in overcoming major challenges and obstacles. We will get through this together, Coachella Valley.” Visit AguaCalienteCasinos.com for further updates.
As of April 15th, Barona Resort & Casino stated on its website,“Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-
19) pandemic, Barona Resort & Casino will remain temporarily closed until further notice. So many of our Barona friends and family have been asking if we are going to re-open our doors
on April 20, 2020. While we had hopes that might be a possibility, it is apparent that was optimistic. The health and safety of our staff, our players and
our community is our top priority and therefore we have decided to extend our closure until further notice. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation and keep you updated on our plans with announcements on our website at Barona.com.”
On the Casino Pauma website from March 15th, its announcement read “The health and safety of our guests, team members, and community is our top priority at Casino Pauma. Our hearts go out to those who have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are monitoring the outbreak daily and we are complying with the
