In an effort to protect the health and safety of guests and team members and to further prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Pala Band of Mission Indians announced the temporary closure of Pala Casino Resort Spa on March 20th at the close of business. Pala Casino will continue to monitor this evolving situation and reopen to the public when it is safe to do so.
“After careful consideration, the Pala Band of Mission Indians felt that the decision to temporarily close Pala Casino is absolutely necessary as we work to protect our guests and team members and further prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” said Pala Band of Mission Indians Chairman Robert Smith. “We are thankful for the dedicated medical professionals who are working tirelessly to contain this pandemic and send our sympathies to all that are directly affected by this tragedy.”

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation announced on March 27th that the temporary closure of Sycuan Casino Resort would be extended “until further notice as there are too many unknowns to confidently provide a date.”
“While we originally indicated this was to last until March 31st, it has become clear that is not possible,” said Cody J. Martinez, Chairman, Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation.“We are as anxious as everyone to reopen and get back to normal. We are paying close attention to what our public health professionals are saying, the actions of our elected leaders and the decisions of others who own businesses. At this point, the businesses that are closed will remain closed until it is clear from a public health and safety perspective that the regional restrictions in place will be lifted. We are all in this together and we will get through this together and hopefully that is very soon. In a recent letter on the website of Valley View Casino & Hotel, General Manager Bruce Howard stated, “Our casino is currently closed through May 7th. We are planning to reopen our casino, our hotel and our restaurants on Friday, May 8th, but as we all know that date could change.”
